Consultaion
Consultation is free, it generally takes about an hour or as long as you need. I am happy to answer all your questions and concerns regarding hair loss and wigs.
Give yourself time to prepare for your hair loss . The best time to schedule a consultation with me at Wigs Medical is when you hair is still growing normally , that is before beginning chemotherapy or after the first treatment at the latest. I work with you to find the style that is right for you and then give you professional instruction in the fitting, care and handling of your new hair. With each wig purchased you will receive a free bandana/turban, wig stand and wig brush. |
Client advice and service
The onset of hair loss is often the first time your illness is visible to others . A wig allows you to prevent others from detecting your hair loss and so in terms of your appearance your illness recedes into the background .
So when you meet people they treat you normally rather than look at you with sympathy, this allows you to be strong. At Wigs Medical I provide concrete help for psychological as well as cosmetic needs , this will definitely improve your sense of well being. Since establishing Wigs Medical 10 years ago, I can honestly say the reason it has been such a success is because of the fact that I wear a wig myself so I can give you the best advice based on my ongoing personal experience. At the thought of wearing a wig a client can have so many thoughts running through her head - will I look normal?, will it look like a wig?, will people know I am wearing a wig?. When I tell my client that I wear a wig myself her reaction is twofold - she cannot believe it is a wig to start with because it looks so real, I look normal and then I can almost instantly see her relax a little and become less anxious. I can help you look good and feel as confident as I do. |
Choosing Your Wig
There are so many different factors involved in choosing a wig from the actual fit, the comfort, the way the wig is made on inside, to the variations in each style etc.
I can talk about the importance and significance of each of these as I have experienced them myself over the past 17 years of wearing a wig myself. I can be so direct with you at this very sensitive time and say things and answer questions others can not or would not because I wear a wig myself. The colour is also as important as choosing the right style so a lot of time goes into choosing the correct colour also.
I advise you to choose a style and colour as close as possible to your own style at the moment for two reasons. First reason is that when you start to wear your new hair ( your wig) it is very important when you look at your self in the mirror that you see your self looking back not a different version of you, this will give you great confidence that you need right now as you are going through enough change already at this traumatic time . Secondly people will definitely not know that you are wearing a wig so you will be treated normally and not have to cope with the sympathetic looks from people.
